Uber’s customer service team is now providing a new line of support for the ride-sharing app UberX, allowing users to call the company directly and get more details about how to get the app on their phone or tablet.
The new line is for customers who have not already set up an account for UberX and have already used the Uber mobile app to order or book a ride.
Customers who are already using UberX will still need to manually call Uber to make the booking or book the ride, and they’ll have to re-enter the customer name and email address they used to register for Uber.
Uber did not say how many customers it had already added to its customer service staff since it is still planning to roll out the new customer support service on iOS and Android.
Uber previously announced the addition of a new phone and email account, but it did not provide any further details on how the new lines would work.
“Uber has made a great step in building a customer support and customer service infrastructure for our customers, and we look forward to welcoming new customers and growing the number of people using Uber in the coming months,” Uber CEO Travis Kalanick said in a statement.
Uber has been trying to gain new customers since it announced the acquisition of UberPool, which lets customers pay to share their rides with friends.
Kalanicks original vision for Uber was to allow people to book rides for themselves, but that plan was abandoned last year after Uber took a $1 billion charge to acquire rival Lyft.
